John Ashinhurst is a dedicated, compassionate physician assistant who is proud to serve the community he spent most of his life. He believes in an education approach to medicine, helping patients understand their conditions and treatment options. Throughout his life, the best doctors, PAs, and NPs he’s had have help him understand and explained what was going on and anything that needed to be done. This has stuck with him into his own career.

Born in Chiclayo, Peru and raised in San Antonio, TX, his education journey has led him across Texas. He completed his Bachelors of Science in Biology at Abilene Christian University and his Masters of Science in Biotechnology from UTSA before heading to the Valley to complete his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at UTRGV.

Outside of the clinic, John enjoys cooking, especially Peruvian cuisine, exploring new restaurants, and cheering on the Spurs. His household consists of 3 cats, Lily, Kari, and Fish
